We understand that aging in place is important, but it can be hard without some help. Nemaha County Community Health Services provides that help. Home Care For many older adults, remaining in their own home and community is deeply important. The comfort of familiar surroundings, a sense of independence, and emotional connection to place are powerful reasons to age in place. At NCCHS, we understand this—and we’re here to help make it possible. Our home care services are designed to provide the right level of support to help older adults live safely and confidently at home. Whether it's assistance with daily activities or ongoing health-related needs, our team works with each individual to promote dignity, independence, and quality of life. Caregiving Services Our caregiving services are designed to help older adults continue living safely and independently in their own homes. With compassionate, non-medical support, we assist with everyday tasks that can become challenging over time. Services are personalized based on each individual’s needs and preferences. We currently offer: Bathing Assistance – Help with bathing and personal hygiene to promote comfort and safety Personal Care – Assistance with dressing, grooming, and other daily self-care tasks Light Housekeeping – Support with routine cleaning to maintain a safe and tidy living space Light Meal Preparation – Help with preparing simple, nutritious meals Grocery Shopping – Assistance with shopping for food and household essentials Light Laundry Services – Help with washing, drying, and folding clothes and linens These services can reduce stress for both individuals and caregivers while making aging in place more manageable. Nursing Services Our nursing assessment services offer older adults and individuals with health concerns the opportunity to receive basic wellness checks and personalized health support—all from a trusted local provider. We currently offer: Nursing Assessments – General health assessments to evaluate well-being and identify any areas of concern Toenail Care – Safe, hygienic trimming and care, especially important for individuals with limited mobility or chronic conditions Blood Pressure Checks – Quick and accurate monitoring to help manage heart health and detect changes early These services are available by appointment and are a great way to support aging in place with regular, reliable care. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library At Nemaha County Community Health Services, we believe that early literacy is one of the best ways to set children up for lifelong success. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library—a free program that mails a new, age-appropriate book each month to children from birth to age five. No cost. No catch. Just books delivered straight to your child’s mailbox. This program is available to all children living in Nemaha County, regardless of income or background. From colorful board books for babies to stories that help preschoolers prepare for school, each book is carefully selected to inspire imagination and build early reading skills. Signing up is quick and easy, and families can begin receiving books within a few weeks of enrollment. In Sabetha, we are open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm (we are closed from 12:00-1:00 for lunch though!). In Seneca, we are open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30am-3:00pm, and we are closed 12:00-1:00 for lunch! How do I schedule an appointment? To schedule an appointment, you can call us at 785-284-2152. What is a home visit? A home visit is a free meeting with one of our home visitors at your home or at another place of your choosing. Our home visitor will answer all your questions, check on and weigh your baby, provide you with resources and bring you a goody bag! Who qualifies? Any prenatal or postpartum parent in Nemaha County qualifies for a home visit! And, they are completely free to you! What are the benefits? There are lots of benefits to doing home visits. Early experiences shape brain development in the first years of life, forming the foundation which everything is built. Home visiting can improve baby's lifelong health, educational and economic outcomes. Home visits also: - Increase school readiness - Improve maternal health - Improve child health - Promotes family self-sufficiency What's in the goody bag? WIC is a Supplemental Nutrition Program for women, infants, and children. WIC gives you access to healthy food, nutrition education and breastfeeding guidance. Who can get support? - Moms - Pregnant women - Dads - Grandparents - Foster parents - Step-parents - Guardians - Caregivers with a low to medium income and those who are part of other programs such as foster care, medical assistance, or SNAP are eligible Eligibility Guidelines: If you make under these amounts, you may qualify for WIC: - 2 person household: $36,482 - 3 person household: $45,991 - 4 person household: $55,500 - 5 person household: $65,009 For more information on income eligibility guidelines, contact us at 785-284-2152. What's the retail value? For women and children the retail value of the healthy food WIC provides is about $74 per person per month. For infants, WIC promotes breastfeeding, and provides formula when requested. The retail value of the formula is about $180 per month. Did you know? Even if you don't qualify for SNAP (EBT, Food Stamps), or Medicaid, you still may qualify for WIC. Many families are eligible for WIC and don't realize it. Where can I find out more? Home care is a low-cost in-home nursing and caregiving service provided by NCCHS. We understand that aging in place is a priority for many seniors, but that isn't always possible without a little help. We are here to provide that help. How does the breastfeeding clinic work? Our staff understands that the option to breastfeed is the choice of the mother, and it's sometimes not an easy one. That's why we are here to help you along your breastfeeding journey and offer you professional support. We will work together with your doctor to ensure that you and your baby are receiving the best support during your breastfeeding experience. That is why we created this breastfeeding clinic! Our details: - Our breastfeeding clinic is free for everyone - We are open Tuesdays and Fridays, 8:30-5:00pm by appointment only - We take appointments in both Seneca and Sabetha - The breastfeeding clinic is staffed by Tara Lohmann, RN, CLC. Tara is very knowledgeable in lactation and is excited to help mothers meet their breastfeeding goals. What do we do? - Offers each mother a one-on-one consultation to assess breastfeeding needs and goals - Will answer questions about breastfeeding - Provides hands-on support with positioning and latch - Provides an evaluation of the baby’s weight with a medical-grade scale before and after feeding - Provides education and guidance for newborn care, feedings and recommended follow-up - Performs blood pressure checks for mothers with history of hypertension - Performs breast/nipple evaluation - Provides reassurance that you and your baby are on track - Offers support and education for the entire family - Hospital consults are available; ask your nurse for more information How do I know what immunizations my child needs? If you aren't sure what immunizations your child hasn't had or is ready for, call us and we can tell you! We can also print immunization records for school, daycare, or your own personal records. Free diapers, wipes, and baby essentials for families in Nemaha County. Visit our Sabetha office or call to schedule a pickup in Seneca—no questions asked. Supporting healthy families with easy, judgment-free access to basic needs. Little Nest Family Resource Bank About The Little Nest Family Resource Bank is a program offered by NCCHS to support families with young children in Nemaha County. Through this program, families can access free diapers, wipes, and other essential baby items on a monthly basis. The goal of the Resource Bank is to help meet basic needs during the early years of a child’s life—when the cost of baby care can be especially challenging—while ensuring families feel supported and respected. This service is provided with no questions asked. Families may receive supplies once per month. Each visit includes approximately 5 to 7 days’ worth of diapers, wipes, and a selection of other baby care essentials, depending on current availability. The Little Nest Family Resource Bank is open for walk-ins at our Sabetha office during regular business hours. For families using the Seneca office, we ask that you call ahead to schedule a pickup. This helps us ensure the correct diaper size and other needed items are available when you arrive. We gratefully accept donations of new, unopened baby products at both our Sabetha and Seneca locations. Diapers in all sizes, baby wipes, and other basic baby care supplies help keep the Resource Bank stocked and ready to serve local families. By supporting one another, we can help ensure every child in Nemaha County has what they need to grow, stay healthy, and thrive.

Nemaha County Community Health Services is a WIC Clinic. We provide WIC services to lots of women, infants, and children in Nemaha County. Women, Infants, and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC) The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program is a federally funded nutrition program that helps support the health of pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and children up to age 5. WIC provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support, healthy food benefits, and referrals to other health and social services—all at no cost to eligible families. At Nemaha County Community Health Services, we are proud to serve as a local WIC provider. Our team is here to help families access the resources they need to grow strong and healthy. Whether you’re pregnant, postpartum, or caring for a young child, WIC can help provide essential support during these important early years Request Info Getting Started Income Guidelines WIC Eligibility The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program provides nutrition support at no cost to pregnant individuals, new parents, and families with young children. At NCCHS, we proudly serve eligible families living in Nemaha County—including foster families, kinship caregivers, and those from all backgrounds. You may qualify for WIC if you meet the following criteria: 1. Categorical Eligibility You are eligible if you are: Pregnant Breastfeeding (up to your baby’s first birthday) Postpartum (up to 6 months after birth if not breastfeeding) A parent, guardian, foster parent, or other caregiver of a child under age 5 Foster children under age 5 are automatically eligible for WIC and receive their own benefits. 2. Residency You must live in Kansas, and NCCHS provides WIC services to those living in Nemaha County. 3. Income Eligibility Your household income must be at or below 185% of the federal poverty level, based on household size. Many working families qualify. You are automatically eligible for WIC if you currently receive: Medicaid SNAP (Food Assistance) TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) For more on income eligibility, click here 4. Nutrition or Health Risk All applicants are screened for basic health and nutrition needs during their appointment—such as low iron levels, poor weight gain, or other dietary concerns. WIC services are available to all eligible residents, regardless of immigration status. Applying for WIC does not require you to disclose your immigration status, and it will not affect your immigration record or public charge status.
