We’re Hiring: Public Health Nurse – Make a Difference in Your Community
Nemaha County Community Health Services (NCCHS) is seeking a dedicated, community-minded Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to provide meaningful, prevention-focused care to individuals and families throughout Nemaha County.
If you’re passionate about supporting families, enjoy working independently and in a team, and want to make a lasting impact through public health, this could be the perfect role for you.
What You'll Do
As a public health nurse at NCCHS, you’ll help lead programs that promote health and prevent illness across all ages. Your responsibilities will include:
Administering routine immunizations to children and adults
Performing school entry physicals and Kan-Be-Healthy screenings
Leading the WIC program—providing nutrition assessments, education, and referrals for eligible women, infants, and children
Providing maternal-child health services, including prenatal and postpartum home visits
Offering safe sleep education and infant development screenings during home visits
Conducting breastfeeding consultations in both home and clinic settings
Participating in community outreach events, school health activities, and public health initiatives
Maternal-Child Health Focus
A key focus of this position is supporting women and young children. This includes:
Educating new and expectant mothers through prenatal and postpartum visits
Helping families navigate infant care, growth milestones, and early development
Leading breastfeeding support services, including individualized counseling
Teaching safe sleep practices to reduce the risk of sleep-related infant deaths
You’ll be a trusted resource for families in our community—offering not only care, but confidence, education, and encouragement during the most critical early years of life.

We are looking for a nurse who is ready to grow in their public health role. The ideal candidate will be willing to pursue certification as a Lactation Counselor (CLC) and Safe Sleep Instructor to expand their ability to support families. NCCHS will provide training and support to help you succeed in these areas.
